Quick Film Budget Speaker Series: Technicolor 3D Executive
Join filmmakers Nolan Lebovitz and Adam Lebovitz as they discuss film distribution with Dan Birnbaum, the head of operations and strategy for Technicolor 3D. At Technicolor, Birnbaum works with both studios and exhibitors to distribute 35mm 3D prints to movie theaters. Birnbaum has been an innovator in the visual effects industry since 2002. He began work as a visual effects compositor in the feature film industry in Los Angeles and has worked on designing systems to increase efficiency in visual effects production. In 2007, Birnbaum was part of a team of digital artists that won the Oscar for Achievement in Visual Effects for New Line Cinema’s “The Golden Compass.” He holds a BS in Radio, Television, and Film from Northwestern University and an MBA from UCLA Anderson School of Management. Following the discussion, there will be a Question and Answer session.
